Masiphumelele Education

In the apartheid regime, the Department of Bantu Education provided only a minimal education for the black South Africans who, under the government policies of the time, were destined for unskilled labor. During “the struggle” for democracy, the ANC’s policy was ”power first and education second”. As a result, there are millions of uneducated African adults and a legacy of really bad schools.

Masi Corp, cannot remedy even a fraction of the harm done to several generations of black Africans. Our mission is to find those few, mostly children, who might have a chance if they could obtain a good education.

Working through the township school is difficult. Large class sizes with a single teacher in an overcrowded classroom is not conducive to any kind of learning. See Township Education.

So we offered scholarships to two students a year to leave the township school and go to a High School. See High School Scholars

In 2005 we started offering two scholarships to college for two of the High School Graduating Class. See College Education. We also offer tuition assistance to others who come to us recommended for assistance by the community. See Better Futures
